Changsha’s Metro, and Food in China

Started the day out working on my websites, then decided to go to Changsha again. After all, I wanted to see if I finally know the parts of the city which are of importance to me. Not least that included finding the Metro.
As it turned out, I had indeed gotten confused by information that pointed to the wrong place. The location to (also) be found on Google Maps, and looking like such a store even on the satellite picture, that’s where it really was. Just one more time around the curve… and after the fold, what’s to be found, and some thoughts on it all…

Little Trip to Changsha

Last Saturday, although I could tell I was starting to get a cold, I went to Changsha again (October 1, I had also been there). Started out in the morning, catching the local bus into Xiangtan, then the regional bus to Changsha.
At the bus station, I noticed the fare for going to Shanghai - which is not only of interest, but also one of the few city names I know in Chinese: 290 RMB. Might be worth considering.

In Changsha, I wanted to try and find the Metro store, which should have even more imported items than Carrefour and WalMart. It would be nice to know what’s available, for example as I have been thinking about cooking something for some of my students and/or co-teachers. Much to my chagrin, I failed miserably. I even tried with a cab, but only ended up where I had started looking, and failed to locate it. Back home, it would turn out that, in all probability, I would just (more…)
